THANKS KOBIT FOR THE 45 CAL EPISODE ADDRESS!
THOUGHTS ON THESE EPISODES I am at a loss of words to say how wonderfully great 43 and 44 were. It is best to watch these episodes off by yourself. So you can cry yourself out without any embarassing moment.
All night I kept thinking of that baby and his krop of hair. Kind of like Conan O’brien, only with beautiful black hair. I mean he was beautiful with his quaf standing up and he played the part of “last breath with measles” like a pro. The other brother was just right, too. Sliding in with the kids “yeah, I’m from the slave village over yonder.” Then “unhand that child, you Rascal. In the name of the King, for I am the prince” and he tossed in a Chinese classic for added effect. These two little actors are too cool for school.
What gets me though and I know it is entertainment, yet why do the bad guys always have all the spies and know every move and the good folks are like keystone cops “duh, which way did they go?” I know that in the Palace it’s got to be difficult to have a sit down meal together with the wives and kids. But the King, by way of PD’s King rule #1; The King never knows what is going on around him. And the Queen doesn’t tell him that Consort Hui is causing this to happen, yet she knows it all. That doesn’t surprise me because that is always the backdrop.
What does get me, is how much I have learned about Kings and their role in History. A Governator coming by to tell the King. Sir, Sukjong sir! I will be coming after YOUR family! I was always under the impression you did not say this to the King of a country. As you’s real likely to lose your neck. Yet this bug eyed Gov walked all over darling Dong Yi and the King, even the Royal Guard.
Made me so angry, I thought about visiting the guy from Wikileaks.
For me the redeeming minutes were when the fish were brought home. Bong Sang Gung is told what a great Cook she isn’t and a little later Eunuch Han brings the worrisome King over. It is difficult to tell this story because history says the King was mad for 6yrs over the issue. Yet Sukjong loved Dong Yi and they overcame enuff, to have more children. Including Young Geum ya. So as has been said PD does not even want so much as another kiss shown on these episodes. But we know that men and women, Kings and consorts have found ways around kissing bans before. You know why that “evening scene” was best part for me.
It shows that life is not remembered by the time going by, Life is remembered by the moments we take. It is those moments that fill our souls, not the passing of time.

Episode 45
Geum stands up for the weaker kids and is really smart …the crown prince is unhealthy (which could lead to impotency) …JHB’s clothes & hairpin are now bright & colourful…QI is now smarter (she wonders why JHB insists on a regular doctor to tend to the crown prince), DY’s brother is in exile
Geum sneaks into palace to see SJ (Yoo Sang Gong is now on DY’s side – helps look for Geum) but meets the crown prince & JHB (who demands that the ‘commoner’ gets beatings for blocking the crown prince’s path but the crown prince insists Geum be let free).
SJ goes on his walk outside the palace and meets Geum who’s crying. SJ makes a remark about finding a much prettier ‘dog’ the last time he heard crying (reference to SJ finding DY ‘pungang’ sitting under a tree crying). Geum demands SJ give him his name so he can repay SJ kindess. (Geum’s manner is more like a king than the crown prince.) Geum insists he’s a prince & SJ is stunned…DY comes looking for Geum & SJ is in shocked to see them…Eunch Han’s reaction is so good!
DJ tells Geum he will cause problems for SJ if he meets up with him. She is worried about another power struggle like last time. QI’s maid discovers that JHB is feeding her son herbs bought outside the palace. When DJ finds out Geum understands the difficult texts, she wants to remove Geum from school because she is worried that Geum would wont be safe if people discover his talent. Geum walks to school, his schoolmates have played a trick on him but SJ saves him. They both run off with Geum leading the way. (Director’s really smart! He’s utilising the same moments DY had with SJ and replaying it with Geum & SJ). SJ is out of breathe and asks for a rest……cue replay of SJ n DY’s moments…SJ remarks that they say the same thing! DY sees the back of SJ whos talking to Geum….

Yes I was puzzled too was looking up and down for jackie “new update but the dates did not change LOL!!!!
Thank @apdy for the pics as always the quips to go with it nice. Yes LOL much cheese…..good the son babbles .Bring her back to earth?
I coudnt bear to watch 43/44 skiped many parts. I just wanted to knock DY’s head for not staying put as she was told, by both officer suh/king to trust them to find the truth. Thus the sacrificial lambs for her alter and her stuuuuupid friend she was seen hugging and lugging in public.!!! again and again she gave chance for jang by underestimating her intellect. she does not know her as well as the king & the queen.
Reading their history, I was saddened by the fact that when she comes back to the palace the officials ask guem to be adopted by the queen who is of noblity to give him some place and pristige amongst the royalties.
Watching this drama thus far, I see their decision was right. this child has neither the decorum or the quiet dignity required of royalties as with their times. Intelligent yes, but that is about it. dong yi has not provided the kind of education he needs, he finds it himself!!! so the queen does a better job, which might be why, he wailed and cried upon her death! yet did not have the restrain to abstain from sex as it was customary on his mother’s death!
well, the remaining parts, hope does not play too much on the “cheesy” jazz.
Purnama, even though I agree it was right for the Queen to adopt Guem I think it was for another reason. Here is my thinking, I think he was adopted to be put in a better position for ascension to the throne. One because the Queen loves Dong Yi and it would be natural for her to love her child as well(who by the way is just like his Mom in many ways) Even though Guem is not schooled in the politics of court life ,he is a quick witted lively child with great natural acumen.I have no doubt the he would have done well regardless. But this way he has a leg up on the Crown Prince now since both his parents are of noble blood. When Dong Yi and her son come back to the Palace The Hee Bin will feel threatened by the young prince and the race for who will get the throne will be on!. That is why JBJ killed the Queen. To make sure there were no obstacles to her son grabbing the brass ring. But karma raised her head and sadly Hee Bin’s son was the one to pay for all her horrible deeds. Dying only four years after becoming King. But this just one fan’s point of view Dong Yi is my second favorite historical to date after Jeejoonwan and Empress Chu Chun.Queen Seok Duk was very good until the ending it spoiled it for me.
